Introduction to R will take place on the following dates:

Participants are required to choose one of the above dates at the point of application.
The course is designed to prepare students for the programming components of subsequent coursework in your ESS session. It is intended for students without previous experience with or only basic knowledge of R.
This course provides a basic introduction to the R open-source software environment for statistical computing and graphics, with a focus on skills relevant to social science data analysis. Students will become familiar with the structure of R programming for a variety of applications. Students will learn to import and manage data sets, create objects, install and use packages, conduct basic statistical analyses, and produce basic graphics.
Note: this one-day course is offered as supplementary only to participants enrolling in at least one 17.5 or 35 hour course at ESS.
