ESS 2023
The course was great, really enjoyed it and felt I got a lot out of it – the combination of the theoretical and the methodological steps have provided me with tools for the PhD and required a renewed and deeper exploration of discourse analysis, giving me a lot to think about for the road ahead.
– 1Q Doing Discourse Analysis: Populism, Neoliberalism and Radical Democratic Politics (Prof. David Howarth, Dr. Konstantinos Roussos, Dr. Jimena Vazquez Garcia)
The best visualization course I learned in @EssexSumSchool. I found solutions to almost all of the things I have struggled with over the last two years. Practical useful R skills on O-D data visualization+ animation + efficient way to extract and represent model parameters
– 3D Computational Methods for Social Data Science: Exploring Society through Visualization and Modelling (Dr. Roger Beecham)
I really enjoyed this course and found it incredibly helpful. It has provided me with a bank of knowledge and resources that i am looking forward to returning to over the course of my studies
– 1C Introduction to Regression (Prof Tor Georg Jakobsen)
I am still buzzing from the qualitative data analysis discussion AND the reading lists *gold*
– 1N Qualitative Data Analysis: Methodologies for Analysing Text and Talk (Dr. Lea Sgier)
This course was really excellent. The instructors were so knowledgeable, but also very approachable and understanding of the different levels and backgrounds of the students. The course design was amazing – I have never experienced a course with both theoretical foundations and immediate practical applications. I have learned so much.
– 2N Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (Prof. Peter Schmidt & Dr. Daniel Seddig)
This is easily one of the best courses I have ever taken during any of my university studies. It felt like we were in an actual classroom and the course and instructor were engaging and interactive. I absolutely loved the class and learned so much.
– 2S Introduction to Statistics for Social Science Research with SPSS (Dr. Roxana Baltaru)
